Volume Tomography
Digital volume tomography (DVT) is a three-dimensional imaging tomography procedure using X-rays, which is mainly used in ear, nose and throat medicine, oral and maxillofacial surgery and dentistry.Applications:
- Implant planning
- Anatomical localization of displaced and retinized teeth as well as wisdom teeth
- Illustration of inflammatory bony changes in the area of the tooth roots and for planning root-tip resections
- Representation of the endodontic (inner tooth space and root canals)
- Representation of tooth injuries
- Representation of the periodontium for periodontal therapy
- Overlay-free display of tooth number and tooth shape anomalies before orthodontic treatment
- Representation of the temporomandibular joints, e.g. in osteoarthritis
